Qeqertaq has the privilege of having very low ‘light pollution,’ which means that, unlike large cities, the beauty of the night sky is not overshadowed. In the photo, the northern lights display all their splendor and seem to dance in the Arctic sky, truly a celestial spectacle.

The image was captured from the isolated settlement of Qeqertaq by Dennis Lehtonen. In it, you can see a solitary iceberg drifting through the icy sea, illuminated by the lights of the coast, creating a magical scene.

The northern lights is a natural luminous phenomenon that occurs in the polar regions of the Earth and is caused by the interaction between charged particles from the solar wind and the gases in the Earth’s atmosphere.
